About Me

I became interested in lighthouses when I was a little girl, and my grandfather was stranded in the middle of Saginaw Bay (Lake Huron), and spent the night in the long abandoned lighthouse on Charity Island (shown on front page). Huron County is home to three active lighthouses (Charity Island is in Arenac), Pte. Aux Barques, Harbor Beach, Port Hope, and thus encouraged my interest in lighthouses. After I moved to Maine, I became involved with lighthouse preservation, and joined the newly started chapter of the American Lighthouse Foundation, the Friends of Pemaquid Point Lighthouse. Besides acting as a docent, I served on their executive board as secretary for two years, and developed their brochure, advertising card, and created and published their newsletter. I am also a charter member of the Maine Lighthouse Museum in Rockland. If you would like to learn more about lighthouses and hauntings, I strongly encourage you to purchase some of the books that are available at the Lighthouse Depot or from Amazon.
