Heceta Head Lighthouse Damaged by Visitors
June 14th, 2007 | by Sue |
It looks like visitors to the Heceta Head lighthouse in Oregon cause more damage to the lighthouse than Rue (the Gray Lady) ever has. According to this news story from KTVZ in Oregon, the number of visitors to the tower has been downsized from eight to four, and may be eliminated from climbing altogether. The metal in the stairs is corroding, and loosening bricks in the wall. Experts are assessing the damage, and looking to see what can be done to repair it.
